In the green hills of the Muzo area in northern Rwanda, smallholder farmers tend just a few hundred Red Bourbon trees each, woven into family plots of food crops and coffee. These trees are a quiet promise, cared for year after year, season after season. During harvest, ripe cherries are hand-picked and carried to the Muzo Coffee Washing Station, where farmers' work is carefully sorted and honored. The coffee is pulped and dried with its natural fruit still clinging to the parchment, a honey process that requires patience and constant attention. Slowly sun-dried on raised beds, the coffee develops deep sweetness and texture - a reflection of the time, care, and pride of the people who grow it.
